What is the Falls Creek Sled Dog Classic?

The 1st Annual 2011 'Royal Canin' Falls Creek Sled Dog Classic has been in the planning for many years and in 2011 we see all the hard work of years gone by come into fruition with the first 'official' race to be held at Falls Creek .

The Falls Creek Sled Dog Classic was born to provide Australian Mushers and their dogs another snow race in the country, in addition to the A5K, to add to their racing calendars.

In a country where mushers are limited by environmental conditions and long to run their dogs on snow, they now have the opportunity to do that twice a year.

In 2010, Falls Creek Management and the Falls Creek Sled Dog Classic Committee Inc joined forces to host the Inaugural Falls Creek Sled Dog Classic 'Exhibition Race'.

The event was such a success, media and spectator delight, that 2011 sees the very first official 'Falls Creek Sled Dog Classic' Race.

A Sled Dog Race which has now become an annual event on the Falls Creek calendar.

This event however, is unlike anything ever seen in the country before, with the race being held throughout the heart of the Alpine Village, on snow, under lights and the night sky.

A style of racing seen consistently throughout Europe, but a first for the Australian Sled Dog Racing scene.

In 2011 the 1st Annual 'Royal Canin' Falls Creek Sled Dog Classic is hosting a 2 day race for 2, 3, 4 and 6 dog classes commencing on Saturday, July 30 at 6.30pm and the final run on Sunday, July 31 at 6.30pm.

Cash, Trophies and Product Prizes awarded to all first to third place class winners and Product Gifts for all participants.

This is a capped event, so please get your entries in early to ensure your position at the start line.

With a captive audience of well over a thousand spectators, mushers and their dogs will enjoy a atmosphere and challenging trail unlike anything they have ever experienced before.

A must attend unique event for participants and spectators alike, at arguably Australia's most picturesque alpine resort - Falls Creek .

Access to the Mountain is free from 2pm onwards for participants and spectators.
